I'm really starting to get into environments. I tried as best I could to draw clouds with the tools I'm given in Photoshop elements 8. I think I'm getting better but it seems every time I look at some other artist's work, they blow me out of the water. Oh well I'm particulartly satisfied with this piece because I got to try out the visual effects of atmosphere when percieving something that's far away, such as in this case with the clouds in the distance and the planets in the sky. I've noticed when I look at the moon in broad daylight that you don't see the shaded portion of the moon. The blackness of the moon's night side is replaced by the colour of the atmosphere and I tried to replicate that in this piece. All I did to create the planets was just draw a circle, detail it with green/blue, shade it, light it, get my dodge tool and highlight the edges to give an impression of the planet's glowing atmosphere, and then get my eraser tool and gradually fade it into the background.

well this clouds are much better than my clouds.. love the pic..
the stars at the background are a bit too seenable in my opinion
the blur on the draong tail is really good
something about the shading of the dragon dont work for me.. maybe his bottom should be a bit more brightned (think of all of the light these VERY white clouds reflect back up :] )
overall very good :]
